Drought Survivors
Drought Survivors presents unsettling responses to views of nature during conditions of severe drought. Referenced are a selection of Paul Faulstich’s photographs documenting animals and plants local to the Southern California foothills that are typically hidden from view and consideration.
The photographic images stir emotive response, and the paintings are improvisations based on those chords. The palette is composed to subjectively presents altered states of experience. The content challenges the viewer to consider the typically unseen life that human action directly affects.
